Truck Time

Today was a perfect day to go check out some BIG trucks!

Last year we took RC to the local Touch a Truck event. He was very shy and wouldn't really get on any trucks. This year, was a totally different story. I told him last night we were going today and he was very excited.

Once we got in today he ran from truck to truck checking each one out. No being shy this year. He had a blast pressing the buttons (even though everything was fully shut off), "driving" the trucks, and trying to seat belt himself in!

Next year will be Tank's turn to check everything out. This year...he just go to ride along and watch big brother have a blast!

checking out the ambulance

what a gigantic tire. It made a pretty good slide too!

A perfectly sized semi-truck!

Creation Family Devotional

Tonight was the start of our weekly family devotionals with RC. Travis put me in charge of the family devo lessons. We decided to stick with major stories from the Bible...particularly ones that are in RC's Bible! No better place to start than the beginning with creation!

I decided aside from just reading about creation in his Bible, we would do a craft as well! RC loves to glue things and cut things...well attempt to cut things. Our Kingdom Kids has a creation song, so I prepped a page for each day of creation. RC then got to glue everything down and we sang the song. Afterwards I laminated the pages.

For the first one, I think RC enjoyed it. He is still pretty young so he didn't get what we were doing, but now we have the pictures to go with the song so we can continue working on it with him!

Coloring the sky

Even Daddy helped out with the craft.

Trying to figure out how to use a glue stick properly!

Here is our final project!

Veggie Tales Birthday - RC turns 2!

This year for RC's birthday I decided to go with his favorite thing..."uh uh" or rather Veggie Tales! RC LOVES Veggie Tales. Probably because it's the only show he actually gets to watch right now. How can one not like the biblical based veggies stories?

After searching the web for ideas, I found a few to put together his party. First I scored a costume from Lifeway for him to wear...but of course, he wouldn't wear it for the party. So instead he wore his Veggie Tales t-shirt. Which still worked out, but doesn't my little God's Super Hero look so cute?

The food I kept pretty simple. Mostly veggies and fruit and then some pizza. Only some of the food was themed toward the show like:

Pa Grape
Madame Blueberry
Laura Carrot
Cheese Curls (which thankfully did not come alive and try to eat us like in the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything show!)

The rest of the food were not from the shows, but were still yummy: strawberries, broccoli, pizza and of course cake!

The cake. My favorite part of getting ready for a birthday! I decided to be crazy and try another "mad hatter" cake. If you don't remember the fiasco I had back in October this style cake literally drove me mad! This time, I used a Groupon to score actually cake pans meant for this type of cake! So it came out much better.

Instead of making the Veggie Tale characters I decided to use some of the action figures RC would be getting as a present. They were perfect for the cake and made it much cheaper and less time consuming as well!

The decorations I kept pretty simple. For the table just plain colors to match bob the tomato and other characters from the show. I cut out larry the cucumber shaped pieces from green construction paper and spread them on the table. I used some of RC's Veggie Tale toys on the table too.

The rest were just prints I made on the computer, cut them out and glued to construction paper then hung on the window. For my two year old, it was enough. He was impressed and kept saying "cool" as he pointed to them.

It's hard to see in this picture but the bottom right is a big red poster board with Bob the Tomato drawn on it for pin the nose on Bob!

Bob and Larry balloon for the birthday boy's chair of honor for cake eating!

King George's Ducky Punch! Yummy!

Happy Family...sorta. Birthday boy wanted his cake already! LOL

Yummy! This year, he dug right into his cake. He even used his fork!

Pin the nose on Bob. RC actually nailed the nose in the right spot, but the prize went to one of his friends instead!

Coloring Veggie Tale sheets I downloaded from Veggie Tales website.

Present time. This year RC got the whole idea and tore into his gifts.

All in all it was a very successful 2nd birthday for RC. He had a lot of fun with his friends.

A Very Thankful Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for so many things...most of all I am thankful for God as he has blessed me with all that I have; a loving husband, a handsome little boy, a second baby on the way, the chance to host two wonderful exchange students and so much more!

This year was basically the first year I REALLY cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the 8 years Travis and I have been married. In previous years, if we weren't at my parents or invited to a friends, I would just make a very small turkey breast in the crock pot with mashed potatoes and maybe corn.

This was the first year for a giant turkey and, of course, I forgot to take a picture of it before it was cut! That's okay though, it turns out that when I put it in the roasting pan and cut the trash bag off we used to marinate the turkey in, it ended up breast side down, so it wasn't very pretty looking on top!

It was TASTY though!

Our Thanksgiving feast. It doesn't really look like a lot, but it was PLENTY!
Travis gave us a quick lesson from the Bible on Thanksgiving and then blessed the meal!
RC waiting as patiently as he could for food....that he ended up not eating anyway. He sat eating pretend food while daddy talked.
Family photo. Pardon my horrible looking hair please, I had just washed it and didn't gel it! KJ was photographer, hence why he is barely in the shot!
We even broke out the bubbly for this meal...as in Sparkling Apple Cider!
KJ decided that the angel pie had to be eaten with no fork. He dug right in...face first!
And he just turned 18? LOL
Billy must have decided it looked fun.
Silly boys!
It has been a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now I am spending time trying to score a few Christmas gifts and newborn diaper supplies for a great deal and tomorrow we are going to hit up only ONE store to see what we can score. I hope and pray that by going to the Lifeway Christian store people won't be insane and crazy there!

Once we get home tomorrow, it will be time to start getting the Christmas decorations up! "It's the most wonderful time of the year..."

Trick or Treat?

This Halloween brought another first for RC. It wasn't his first Halloween, but instead his first year to Trick or Treat. We got him all dressed up in the Bob the Tomato costume I scored brand new on sale for $5!!! He LOVES Veggie Tales and especially Bob and Larry.

Right before we started. He was watching the other kids as they were running around crazy.

We went over to a friends house and met up with a large group of other kids so RC would have someone to go with. He had a blast!

Walking with daddy and seeing how it's done.
We headed off down the street! RC didn't know what to do. He liked carrying his bucket but at the first house, by the time I got him to the door I found out he dropped his bucket back by daddy! Oops...candy in hand please! Thank you!

Such a big guy carrying his own bucket. He wouldn't let go of it!
After that he got it! Occasionally he would get mad when the person giving candy would put it in his bucket for him. He is such an independent little thing and wants to do everything on his own. He literally would take the candy out and put it back in the bucket!

Our...I mean his, candy haul.
The kinda funny thing is that RC has no clue really what candy is and what he was getting in his bucket. He was just happy to be with his friends and getting stuff from people. LOL

The goods which he didn't get to have but the gummy snacks. Poor kid = happy mommy! ;)
He still has no clue as he was only allowed to have the gummy snacks. Made mommy happy!

I'm sure next year he will be even more eager to head out and beg for candy!

Car Conversations

Yesterday I picked up the boys from school. KJ started asking if I had some baby things he could use for spirit day today. We talked about a few things the boys could use like bibs & blankets. Then we here from the back....

"can I suck a nipple?"

KJ and I were both shocked with what Billy had just asked. Poor Billy sat in the back with an innocent expression not understanding what he had just asked. Thanks for British English he was only referring to the tip of a bottle and had no idea what the other nipple would be.

KJ explained it to him and I told him he should only refer to anything on the bottle as just a bottle as a whole.

Thank God he asked that question to me rather than going to school today and asking a teacher or another student!

The other funny thing is that at first, I totally thought Billy had asked about a "Soccer Depot." LOL I was not hearing "Can I suck a nipple?" I heard "Can I wear a Soccer Depot."

Hopefully they have fun at school today. I'll have to make them let me take a picture later to add. Both went to school with bibs around their necks and one had a hooded bath towel and the other RC's tag blanket with those plastic loops to make chains for toys!
